Technology and a golden ticket at Black Mountain Chocolate Factory

For Easter, I used technology and a golden ticket to have a great time with my youngest daughter. The golden ticket came from the Black Mountain Chocolate Factory in downtown Winston Salem. It’s only about thirty minutes from our offices in Greensboro. It is well worth the jaunt. The most important things in life are the ones we remember. Although my business is about technology and I do like sharing information about technology it is the shared experiences with friends and family that stand out in my mind.

My mind clear after a trip to Winston this winter, that I wanted to do something there with the kids. The first thing I thought about are things I am keeping in mind because there are many good hot-spots that provide family entertainment. The Black Mountain Chocolate Factory inspiration came when Easter was a couple weeks away. I remembered that they offered tours and knew Ro would like that. There web site impressed me. Because of security and privacy concerns I avoid unsecured web sites.

If it is not (https:) I do not like to visit it. Not only when technology and a golden ticket for purchase but in general. If site owners don’t care enough about themselves and their customer’s security and privacy I prefer to just use my technology time elsewhere.  (https:) is using technology with a purpose. That purpose may be a brochure or a transaction like subscribing to a newsletter or making a purchase. Whatever the purpose encrypt data between browser and the server.

After getting there a little early to us our golden ticket we parked on the street and left our tech devices in the car. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The tour was great. We sampled different types of homemade chocolate and learned about the history of chocolate and the company. Paraphrasing Homer Simpson from his ride at Universal studios, “all rides end in the gift shop!”  While enjoying one last treat there before leaving a tour guide came in with a group from Triad Eco Adventures.  It was a great time and lots of memories for sharing with friends and family.  We can’t wait to go back.
